Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston is the youngest of four kids born in Newark, New Jersey on August 9, 1963. Her parents are gospel singer Cissy Houston - n e Emily Lee Drinkard - and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney's cousin Dionne Warwick also was famous for her singing. Her mother and she started singing professionally at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark in the year Whitney was just fifteen years old. They sang backing vocals in Chaka Kans' 1978 hit Im Every Woman. Jermaine, her mother Lou Rawls and Jermaine the musicians she performed with. The cover of her album in 1981 was published in Seventeen Magazine. Her work as the lead vocalist in New York funk group Material attracted the attention of several major record labels, including Arista and Arista, which she signed in 1982 and continued to work with them for the rest of her career. Her debut album Whitney Houston was released in 1985, and was the most-seller album of the debut artist. A number of songs from the album became hits, such as The Greatest Love of All and Saving All My Love. The album sold US 3,000,000 copies before it reached 25 million worldwide. This brought her first of her six Grammys. The follow-up album released in 1987 Whitney that included hits What Do Broken Hearts Go and I Wanna Dance With Somebody built on her success but it was the 1992 film The Bodyguard (1992) that established her as one of the top-selling performers ever. Although the film was not an instant hit nor did her performance, the soundtrack of her Dolly Parton version I Will Always Love You hit the top spot on the single and album charts in the US for a number of months. Her sales exceeded 44 million albums around the world. When she had her daughter Bobbi, Brown married Bobby Brown of the ex-New Edition group. Around this time, her drug abuse became well documented and she began using daily until 1996.
Dana Bash or Dana Ruth Schwartz as she's more well-known as, is an American journalist and political analyst for CNN. Her weekend programs comprise Evans & Novak Late Edition, Inside Politics and Inside Politics. NBC as well CBS have been her previous employers. Coming to her distinctions and awards Bash has been featured in Women in Washington Power List in Elle magazine.
